Create Ceramic Object with Screw Modifier ( Blender 3D ).

How’s your vase object that we learn from previous posting?. Tweet me a photo of it. In this a very short tutorial, I wanna introduce another Screw Modifier use to create ( in this case ) a ceramic object. You can open new blender file or open Vase file and working on new layer so you can more focus. Set your viewport to Front Ortho ( Numpad 1 and Numpad 5 ), and then create a Curve with Shift + A —> Curve —> Bezier, check the Align to View box.

With all you learning about 2d curve, please make a curve like below:

Experiment More with Bevel Object ( Vase ) in Blender 3D

If you subscribe to this blog, you sure following my explore bevel object tutorial. The first part is show user how we make a bowl, now we will play a little bit until it’s shape like a glass. To continue the previous course, open your last practice file. There is a small hole in the middle of our bowl object, but we can fix it easily by changing the value on Geometry Offset -0.5

Lathe with Bevel Technique (Bowl Object) in Blender 3D.

I haven’t use 3ds max in the long time, but I remember if you want to create a glass, you can use Lathe modifier, and on Autocad or Adobe Illustrator there’s a tool called Surface of Revolution ( SurfRev ). And for Blender 3D, there are a few technique you can use:

  • Curve Bevel Object.
  • Screw Modifier.
  • Mesh Spin Tool.

For this tutorial, we will use Lathe with Bevel technique. So, let’s get start it, okay?.

Lathe with Bevel Object:

Before we get to make actual glass object, we will play a little bit with this tool. Press numpad 1 to display front viewport and then numpad 5 to switch from Perspektif to Orthogonal. For a support object, add a mesh —> plane. The reason we created plane mesh is to have the 3d cursor attach all the time.

Cylinder (Ice Cream Packaging) UV Map in Blender 3D Pt 2.

Hello, guys. We meet again. How’s your weekend?. Hopefully you have a wonderful time with friends and family. On my previous post, we learn how to create uv map using Mark Seam technique. After you export and create a graphic like picture below on photo editing software like gimp, now it’s time to apply it on our Cylinder (Ice Cream Packaging) UV Map object. The packaging design is from Fancy Ferret, you might want to check them out.
