Hi all, how’s your day?. It’s a few days before Christmas and I hope you enjoying your time with family and friends. In this last minute, I tried to make a Christmas card, not too fancy, it’s just a simple letter say “Xmas” that have a hatch and sketch effect on it. Basically, it’s a vector illustration that I create using Inkscape and later add some element to convert it to a simple animation.

[Gimp] Toolbox: Color Picker, Measure, and Moving.

Beside selections tool, gimp toolbox section have feature that very useful for user. In this post, we will talk about color picker, measure, and moving. Before we get into the topic, please check out this 2 article about selection in gimp that I published before:

1. Rectangle, ellipse, free, and fuzzy selection.
2. Color, scissor, foreground, and path selection.

Gimp is a image editor. It will be easier for you to work if you can expert the selection tool. My advise is practice, practice, and practice.

[Gimp] Selection Pt. 1: Rectangle, Ellipse, Freehand, and Fuzzy.

There are at least 8 method ( that I remember ) you can use to select object on gimp. In this first post about selection, I’m gonna show you how to do rectangle, ellipse, freehand, and fuzzy selection. This four selection tool in gimp is the easiest, so we will start from there.

1. Rectangle Selection.

Open one of the image file on you library, and click on rect select icon. Drag your mouse on image, it will created a rectangle selection. On its Tool Options, there mode you can choose: replace, add, substract, and intersect. You can try each of them.
